Five-star Jamie fires Under 13s

Jamie Gammell produced a brilliant all-round performance to fire Hambledon under-13s to a comprehensive win over Portsmouth & Southsea on Tuesday.

The young Dons claimed their third consecutive triumph as they defeated their south-coast rivals by 45 runs.

Batting first, Hambledon struggled early on as Portsmouth & Southsea talent Harry Wratten took two early wickets.

However, Gammell led the fightback with an unbeaten 32 and he was ably supported by Jack Thistlethwayte (19) before a quickfire 24 from Alec Younger propelled the Dons to 126 for seven.

With the momentum firmly in their favour, the Dons continued to turn up the pressure after the interval as Finaly Rockett bowled Ezra Hind for a duck.

Sam Caldera and Harry Gadd attempted to rebuild the Portsmouth & Southsea innings only for Gammell to strike with a five-wicket burst which ripped the heart out of the middle order.

Charlie Peach recovered the situation, though, before Harry Hoolahan - with two wickets - and Rockett mopped up the tail to leave the city side 81 all out.
