Fantasy league

By popular demand, the Fantasy League is back for the 2024 season, and it’s better than ever!

It’s had an overhaul since last time it was run. The biggest change is that you now choose a squad of 15 players, giving you the ability to fine-tune your playing XI throughout the season, based on form, availability or gut feeling. This is designed to add a more tactical aspect, and to maintain interest in the competition through the summer.

There will also be a transfer window halfway through the season, where you will be able to make up to 5 changes to your squad of 15.

Player pricing has been set on a combination of statistics, based on performance last season, and predictions for 2024.

The rules

  • Entry to the competition costs £5 (not currently payable online). You may enter as many teams as you like, subject to an entry fee for each.
  • There will be prizes at the end of the season for at least the top two teams. The exact prize structure will be dependent on the number of entries and so the amount of money in the prize pot. As a guide, first prize will be at least £50, second prize at least £25, and there may also be a third prize.
  • Players are assigned a value between 1 and 6.
  • When creating a team, you select a squad of 15 players, up to a maximum budget of 38 points.
  • From this squad, a playing XI of 11 players must be chosen, within a budget of 27 points. You may change this playing XI at any point in the season, as many times as you wish. Match points will be awarded to the team as it stands at 12 noon on the day of the match.
  • At around the midpoint of the season, there will be a transfer window, which will allow you to change up to 5 players from your squad.
  • Only senior league matches are counted towards the Fantasy League.
  • Player performances in abandoned or incomplete matches will count towards the Fantasy League.
  • Match points will be awarded as follows:
    • 1 point for each run scored up to 50
    • 1.25 points for each run between 51 and 100
    • 1.5 points for each run scored above 100
    • 20 points for each wicket taken
    • 5 points for an economy rate below 4 (4 over minimum)

    • Total points will be rounded up to the nearest whole number
