James Atkinson made sure his seasonal debut was a memorable one as he helped Hambledon II to their third win out of four in county division four south.
The off-spinning all-rounder only realised he was free from Loughborough University studies in midweek so was too late to be picked for his 1st XI bow.
And when he only bowled 1.3 overs because Hambledon's strong bowling attack had skittled Calmore II out for just 89, he thought his talents might not be needed.
But after last week's centurion Mark Le Clercq dragged the ball onto his wicket for 13, young Atko strode to the wicket to prove he could bat as well as bowl.
With misty rain in the air, he set about punishing the Calmore bowlers, hitting an unbeaten 58 in just 32 balls as the Dons reached their target in 14 overs.
Earlier, Le Clercq (4-7) and Rhidian Chapman (3-20) reduced Calmore from 39-1 to 89 all out in 32 overs to lift Hambledon to seventh in the table and keep their promotion challenge on course.
