Hambledon’s dream of a Lord’s Village Cup final were ended — for this year, at least — by a defeat to reigning champions Foxton Granta on Sunday.
Electing to bowl first, the Dons were in a very strong position at the halfway point of the first innings; but a spirited fightback from the home side left us chasing a daunting 227 to win, and the reply never gained the required momentum after the fall of early wickets.
