U15s win first match
The Dons Under 15s won their first match of season beating Waterlooville by 13 runs. Electing to bat on a very soft wet wicket, Norwegian U19 international, Henry Glanfield set about the Waterlooville bowling, scoring 39 (3 sixes and 4 fours) in only a few overs. However the young Dons didn't have it all their own way. After Henry's retirement, there followed an incredible batting collapse, seeing the youngsters at 58 for 8 after 11 overs. A ninth wicket partnership of 38 between Henry Wood and Ashley Crompton saved some embarrassment, with the Dons finishing on 96 all out.
Thankfully the Hambledon bowlers performed better than the batsman. Tom Toogood, Guy Mullins, Henry Wood and Henry Glanfield all bowled well to restrict the Waterlooville team to 32 for 1 off 10. As the hosts looked to accelerate the run rate wickets tumbled, leaving them on 83 for 8 off the 20. Tom finishing with 2 for 10 and Guy 3 for 14, Ashley 2 for 5, plus an impressive bowling debut for the U15s for Henry Wood. The work in the field was excellent with only one difficult chance being dropped, including a good performance by Ed Moger behind the stumps on his debut.
A big thank you to Ian for scoring.
