Double treble for Martin but Dons run ends

Hambledon under-13s saw their winning run end despite two hat-tricks from Freddie Martin.

Batting first against Locks Heath at East Meon, Jamie Gammell, Louis Matovu and Henry Glanfield all made hay in the sunshine - retiring on 30.

Tom Toogood also chipped in with 18, including an all-run five, as the innings closed on 156 for two.

After the break, Locks Heath began their reply well and reached 40 for one off five overs.

But a change to spin for Hambledon changed the game as two run outs - one direct hit on one stump - from Tom Sherry in Martin's first over began the collapse.

In Martin's next over, he took a hat-trick - one bowled, one stumped and then the final wicket caught by Matovu.

And then his third over saw a second hat-trick - this time two leg before wicket decisions and one clean bowled.

Locks Heath finished on 66 all out with Toogood and under-11 debutant Seb Ellis each taking a wicket.

However, the under-13s came crashing back to earth at Fareham & Crofton as they went down by seven wickets.

Matovu, Seb Byers and Glanfield all went for a duck as Hambledon batted first.

Martin (33 not out) and Archie Bennett (19) provided some resistance but the Dons finished on 97 for eight.

The Fareham innings then started cautiously. Martin and Archie captured early wickets, including the dangerous Ollie Southon.

However, Dan Wimble batted through the innings to secure the victory for Fareham - making 32 not out as the hosts finished on 99 for 3.
