Atkinson holds nerve to fire Dons

Hambledon calimed a 10-run triumph over Portsmouth A in the South East Hants Indoor League.

After defeat to Purbrook A in their opening fixture, the Dons got back on track as James Atkinson held his nerve at the death.

The off-spinner produced a wicket maiden in the penultimate over - which ultimately saw Portsmouth close on 125 for four.

Earlier, skipper Rhidian Chapman had won the toss and watched his side pile up a competitive 135 for two.

After losing two early wickets, James Scutt inspired the recovery with 26 not out.

Atkinson then delivered a timely cameo with 27 not out, while 59 extras and a useful nine not out from Owain Chapman topped up the total.

Portsmouth made a decent start after the break - reaching 60 without loss - but Atkinson made another crucial contribution, taking two for 17 as the Dons held on to win.
