James Scutt (pictured) struck 44 but could not prevent Hambledon's first team sliding to defeat in their opening East Hants Indoor League division one fixture.
New skipper Rhidian Chapman lost the toss and the Dons were put into bat by Purbrook.
The loss of three early wickets rattled the Ridge Meadow outfit and they never recovered - Scutt's knock the only bright spot in a total of 86 for five.
Things went from bad to worse as the Dons then conceded more than 60 extras, propelling Purbrook to victory with time to spare.
Dan Hewitt picked up two wickets, while Owain Chapman grabbed one along with a run out.
Afterwards the skipper said: 'It was disappointing. There is a lot for us to work on.'
