Young guns make Hampshire final

Hambledon defeated Yateley to book a spot in the Hampshire Cup final.

After winning the toss at Ridge Meadow, the Dons racked up a competitive 133 for seven with Eddie Lewis scoring a patient 50 not out and Tom Gwyther (26) and Ollie Atkinson (20) chipping in.

Yateley were dangerously placed at 58 for two after 10 overs of their reply.

Dons skipper Rory Prentice then introduced Jack Dyer and Daniel Franks into the attack and they produced telling contributions.

Both bowlers grabbed two wickets, while a fine run out from James Toogood soon had Yateley reeling.

Then a superb spell of three wickets for one run in eight balls from Joseph Farrell ensured the visitors were all out for 75 - 58 runs short of the target.

Hambledon's celebrations were later dampened, though, when x-rays showed Lewis had broken a metatarsal after taking a good catch.

Lewis scored unbeaten half centuries in the semi-final and quarter-final but will now miss the final on Tuesday night 17th July 6pm at Ridge Meadow.

All support is welcome, as the Dons aim to lift the county crown.
