Colts make semi-finals

Hambledon colts have kept their cup dreams alive.

The under-11s and under-15s both progressed to the Hampshire Cup semi-finals with wins against Waterlooville and Fareham respectively.

A thrilling, penultimate-ball win - by three wickets - for the under-11s against arch-rivals Ville paved their way into the final four.

Meanwhile, the under-15s demolished Fareham by 100 runs after amassing 209 for two.

Rory Prentice smashed a stunning 14-ball 52 not out, which included a remarkable five sixes in one over.

He was ably supported by Jack Dyer and Eddie Lewis, who both notched unbeaten half centuries.

In reply, the demoralised opponents could only reach 109 with all the Hambledon players bowling.

In the semi-finals both teams have home draws, with the under-15s taking on the North Hampshire League winners at 6pm on Friday, June 29.

The under-11s play their semi-final on Sunday, July 1, when they host Hartley Wintney at 10am.

Elsewhere, the under-13s bowed out of the Hampshire Cup in at the quarter-final stage at the hands of Havant.

They came off second best in a close finish with Havant chasing down the Dons' total of 87 with four balls remaining.
