Second string victorious

Hambledon second team pulled off a great victory against Calmore II in Hampshire League division four south this afternoon.

After winning the toss and batting first, the Dons reached 101 for one. Eddie Lewis led the way, top scoring with 45, while he found support in Jamie Lewis (27) and Mark Le-Clercq (20).

However, a middle-order collapse had the Dons reeling at 118 for eight. Returning war veteran James Restell then struck a crucial 14 before the Dons were all out for 139.

In reply, Calmore struggled against the accuracy of Kyle Shinn (two for eight) and all-rounder Restall (one for five). Excellent fielding and keeping from Ollie Lewis three stumpings continued to build the pressure on the visitors..

Then the father and son combination of Mark Le-Clercq (four for 35) and Spencer Le-Clercq (three for 18) mopped up the remaining wickets to bowl the visitors out for 101 - and grab a 38-run triumph.
