Young Lecky hits maiden ton

Spencer Le Clercq scored his maiden century as Hambledon III enjoyed a terrific run chase against United Services III.

Young Lecky, batting in front of Clarence Pier, enjoyed all the fun of the fair as he hit 100 off just 91 balls to set the foundation for a fantastic three-wicket victory.

A tight opening spell of bowling from Kyle Shinn and Matt Williams had US pinned down at 29-3 after 10 overs.

But the home side picked up the pace on a good artificial wicket, eventually finishing on 259 all out.

Despite losing Matt Radford early on, Martyn Shinn (59) and 15-year-old Spencer Le Clercq put on 164 for the second wicket before both got out.

With much still to do, young Ed Thistlethwayte smashed 55 from only 34 balls to see Hambledon over the line at 261-7, for their second win of the season.
