Under 13s bow out of ECB National Club Championship

Hambledon's U13s, who 3 weeks ago won the Hampshire Cup, took part in the Regional Finals at Horsham today. This is the final stepping stone to the National Finals Festival in August.

In the semi-final against Blackheath, the champions of Kent, Hambledon bowled first and restricted the opposition to 124 for 8. In reply Hambledon batted well and reached the target with 4 balls to spare.

The Final matched the Dons up with Spencer CC, the U13 champions of Surrey. Hambledon won the toss and chose to bat, but were soon in trouble at 6 for 3 after only 13 deliveries. Without our two County players it was going to be tough from this start, but the final total of 101 for 7 was a creditable recovery. Spencer CC paced their innings well and despite some fine bowling, overtook the Dons' total with 4 overs to spare. ECB caps were presented to the teams, and Hambledon went home in the knowledge that they were one of the best 12 teams in the country out of the 1,800 that entered the competition.
