The Dons bow out of the NVKO with heads held high

The Dons went out of the National Village Knock Out at Rowledge today. Having been inserted they made a good start before Jack Lavous was stumped with the score on 51. Chris Stone added a further 54 with captain James Scutt before he departed for 27. Despite Scutt’s fine 75 and some lusty blows by Cam Prentice 17* the innings closed on 197-8 off their allotted 40 overs perhaps 25 runs below par.

In reply Rowledge got off to a flyer with 57 on the board in the first seven overs before Dan Hewitt took a brilliant catch in the gulley to dismiss the dangerous Clapham. However Hambledon were never able to really claw their way back into the game despite a tight spell from leggie Rob Gibson and Rowledge got over the line with 6 wickets and 2.2 overs to spare.
