No Stone unturned

Chris Stone answered the Hambledon call of duty in fine style to see his side into the second round of the new Hampshire U17 Cup.

Just a couple of hours after turning out for Hampshire 2nd XI against Essex at the Rose Bowl, young Stoner volunteered to play for the U17s in the evening against Compton & Chandlers Ford.

And his decision paid dividends as he struck an unbeaten 63 off 46 balls to see the young Dons home in the 17th over.

Earlier Rob Tusler (2-12) struck twice in two overs to remove both Compton openers before eight different bowlers restricted Compton to 100-6 off their 20 overs.

A talented Compton bowling attack nipped out four Hambledon batsmen before Stoner carried his bat to set up a second round home tie against Trojans.
