Day to forget for 1st team

Hambledon fielded an unchanged side from the win against Hook, however they lost a crucial toss in very bowler friendly conditions at Ridge Meadow. Batting first the innings never got going, with a number of batsman beaten by unplayable deliveries. There were a few soft dismissals including a run out when Nick Scutt was batting nicely however scoring was proving impossible, and the dons were dismissed for a paltry 47.

New Milton came out to bat ten minutes after the final wicket, and were looking to play their shots. Ian Turner took a quick two wickets including a silly point catch by gym goer Dan Hewitt. Nono Pongolo, taking a break from tourist activities, had a strong appeal for an LBW, however the umpire decided differently. Dan Hewitt was finally brought into the attack after some rather provocative stretching, surely learnt from his time at the gym. His first over brought the third wicket, castling the unfortunate batman and having a strong LBW appeal turned down in the same over. The umpires now called  for tea. The dons had been outplayed and lost by 7 wickets.

Tea was very strong on sweet today with what appeared to be a rainbow cake. There was also the strong addition of some sort of chicken, which this failed cricketer took full advantage of. The pre made scones were also noted, with a slightly controversial cream on top being compensated for by additional strawberries on the side. A tea with much potential, however one that was slightly ruined by the morose atmosphere that comes was such a comprehensive crushing from the opposition. 8.67/10, current ranking 1st.
