Hambledon III turned up at Southampton with an air of anticipation after the 1st week washout. Martyn Shinn won the toss and put Trojans in, on a very green and surprisingly soft wicket.
After 10 overs Trojans were 11 for 3 and after 20 overs 42 for 6, thanks to the opening spells of Steve Ripiner (10 overs, 6 maidens, 2 wickets for 8 runs) and Prad Bains (7 overs, 2 wickets for 17 runs). Jack Dyer also put in a fine bowling performance (7 overs, 3 wickets for 23 runs), but a battling 64 by the Trojans number 6 meant that Trojans posted 105 all out.
Hambledon chased down the target in 22.2 overs, losing 3 wickets along the way. Jack Dyer scored a fluent 20 before holing out in the deep, but a fine 44 not out from Jon Bridgman and 22 not out from Tim Rogers saw the Dons safely to their opening victory of the season!
