Super Saturday for Dons

Hambledon's second team smashed hapless Bramshaw by 185 runs at Ridge Meadow on Saturday.

The runs flowed in the sunshine as the Dons posted a huge total of 317 for six in their 45 overs.

Batting first after winning the toss, the home side's record-breaking total was inspired by a swashbuckling 97 from Paul Vickers.

Cameron Prentice, batting for the seconds after being ruled out of the first team through injury, hammered a brutal 52, while Mark Le-Clercq (51) also celebrated a half century.

Eddie Lewis (29) and Will Bond (28) also chipped in to see the Dons to what is believed to be the largest league total ever recorded at Ridge Meadow.

Chasing such a daunting total, it was no surprise to see Bramshaw crumble to 132 all out.

After great opening spells from Kyle Shinn and Hew Richards, the scene was set for skipper Rhidian Chapman to snare three for 37 off his 10 overs.

Owain Chapman also grabbed three for 59 before Le-Clercq burgled two wickets for two runs to finish off a great day for team.

After recording their ninth win in 12 fixtures, Hambledon's second string are now fourth in the Hampshire League division four south table.
