Hambledon stunned by old foes

Hambledon crashed to a low-scoring defeat at the hands of Portsmouth in the South East Hants Indoor League at Fareham Leisure Centre last night.

The Dons produced a brilliant display in the field, with two run outs and a brace of superb catches from James Atkinson helping them dismiss their rivals for just 84.

But after the break they never recovered from the early loss of openers James Scutt and Jack Lavous and crashed to an eight-run defeat.

Rob Atkins retired but, along with skipper Dan Hewitt, failed to get into his stride in the face of a decent bowling performance from the St Helens-based side.

Hewitt's Hambledon have now won just two of their four fixtures in the division one of the indoor league.
