Hambledon II made it seven wins out of nine with a 31 run victory over Gosport II at Privett Park today.
In trouble at 28-2, Cam Prentice (39) and James Gibson (31) put on 74 for the third wicket before three wickets tumbled for just two runs.
But 13-year-old JJ Brown, playing only his second 2nd XI game, smashed a quickfire 46 off just 25 balls while Tom Seebold, making his first league appearance of the season, hit 36 off 20 balls - including one enormous six over extra cover into the car park - to help Hambledon to a respectable 215-9 in 45 overs.
In reply on a good wicket, Gosport put on 92 for the first wicket and were well-placed at 130-2 and 153-4.
But Mark Le Clercq (3-43) pegged the home side back as Gosport slipped to 166-6.
With 48 wanted off the last six overs, Gosport shut up shop, scoring only 18 off the last 36 balls against some tight bowling from Prentice and Rob Tusler, as Hambledon cruised to a well-deserved victory.
The win keeps the Dons on course for promotion - and with four of the last five games against teams in the top six, it's going to be an exciting race to the finish.
