Five out of six for Hambledon 2s

Hambledon 2s continued their best start to the season for several years with a convincing victory over Fareham & Crosfton 2s at Ridge Meadow.

Jamie Lewis followed up his excellent 89 against Hursley last week with a match-winning 92 off 85 balls.

He hit 14 fours and put on 120 with debutant Paul Gillespie (50) for the third wicket before the Dons imploded after a 30 minute rain break.

Hambledon slumped from 164-2 to 191 all out to give Fareham renewed heart and set them a reduced run chase of 164 in 34 overs.

Fortunately, Hambledon's excellent bowling attack came to their rescue again as Will Mann (4-29), Rob Tusler (2-22), Mark Le Clercq (2-27) and Phil Silvester (1-29) first reduced Fareham to 16-3 and then bowled them out for 115 in 28.5 overs.

The Dons now travel to Vospers next week with five wins out of six and a place in the top three beckoning.
