Under 16s fall just short at the Rosebowl

Hambledon under 16's narrowly lost the first match of the season at the Rosebowl despite a brilliant stand of 96 between last pair Kyle Shinn & Spencer Le-Clercq.

After winning the toss and putting Ventnor into bat the Islanders scored 152-2 off their 12 overs with just 2 run-outs to show for the Dons,only Spencer Le-Clercq with 3 tight overs for 22 managed to slow the Ventnor batsmen who had 4 players retiring on 25..

The Dons' reply started disastrously with Will Mann caught and bowled first ball,the young Dons then slipped to 34-4 before the heroic efforts of Kyle and Spencer had the Islanders panicking before finally coming up just short at 130-5.

The next matches are a double header on 7th Nov, v Alton & Bournemouth.
