Hambledon are through to the last 16 in the nPower NVKO having defeated Hertfordshire Premier League side Langlebury on Sunday 4th July.
Having won the toss, Hambledon elected to bat and were off to flying start with openers James Scutt and Jack Lavous putting on 69 for the first wicket in 12 overs before Lavous was dismissed for 22. The skipper followed soon after for 47, with the score on 91.
Chris Stone, with a fluent 26, kept the momentum going but after he departed, wickets began to fall at regular intervals and the Dons subsided to 165-8 with 5 overs remaining.
However, Rob Gibson was then joined at the crease by Nick Scutt and they managed to add a crucial forty runs for the 9th wicket with Gibson finishing on a magnificent 51*
Hambledon had to make early inroads with the ball and Cam Prentice and Dan Hewitt responded reducing Langlebury to 21-3 in the 7th over. Oxley and Best then added 124 for the 4th wicket before Man Of The Match Gibson dismissed both of them in quick succession finishing with 3-40.
Langlebury eventually closed on 187-8 off their 40 overs, unable to break the shackles of a fine bowling and fielding effort from the young Hambledon side.
The reward a trip to Southern Premier 2 and Surrey Champions Rowledge on Sunday 18th July.
